일상에서 쉽게 접하는 Beans, Peas, Nutshell, Potato, Salt 에 대한 이디엄으로, 서양요리에 많이 사용되는 Beans, Peas, Salt로 상태나 기분을 표현하게 된 듯 하네요.

 

 

Spill the Beans  (콩을 흘리다), 비밀을 누설하다. 정보를 밝히다.

To reveal a secret or disclose information prematurely.

Like Two Peas in a Pod  (똑같은 마디의 콩처럼), 똑같이 생긴

Refers to two people who are very similar or closely connected.

In a Nutshell  (껍질 안에 알맹이), 요약하면

To summarize something briefly.

Couch Potato  (소파에서의 감자칩), 한가하고 게으른 사람

 A person who is lazy and spends a lot of time sitting or lying down, usually watching TV.

 

"Instead of being a couch potato, get some exercise and fresh air."

"한가하게 있지 말고, 운동하고 신선한 공기를 마시세요."

"I turned into a couch potato over the weekend and binge-watched a TV series."

"주말에 한가하게, TV 시리즈를 연속해서 봤어."

 

Take with a Grain of Salt  (소금 덩어리를 받다), 심각하게 생각하다

To be skeptical of information or advice and not take it too seriously.

 

"His story sounded unbelievable, so I took it with a grain of salt."
