[IT Note] SAP Hybris, eCommerce Engine
Actually, Hybris can provide the A-Z about eCommerce, but why do I call eCommerce Engine?
Maybe it will be depended on eCommerce architecture as hybrid system, so many companies want to use the existing ERP or other legacy system not to use pure Hybirs. Eventually, Hybris can cover the eCommerce engine and features, but not to be total corporate system.
I joined global e-commerce from 2014, and I heard Hybris name at that time. And I did not involve the initial selection process, but I've managed SAP Hybris in 2014-19 over 6 years.
Hybris can provide end-to-end eCommerce solutions, but many companies prefer to use their existing ERP or legacy systems alongside Hybris. In such cases, Hybris serves as an eCommerce engine, which can seamlessly integrate with the existing systems and provide a comprehensive eCommerce solution.
By using Hybris as an eCommerce engine, companies can leverage its extensive features and functionalities, such as product information management, order management, customer service, and marketing automation. Additionally, Hybris offers flexibility and scalability to adapt to changing business needs, making it a popular choice among businesses of all sizes.
Overall, using Hybris as an eCommerce engine can help companies streamline their eCommerce operations, improve customer experiences, and drive revenue growth.
When I've worked global e-commerce based on Hybris platform, many people make me questions about what e-commerce platform is better or how to compare e-commerce platforms including Hybris.
My consistent answer is delivered that it depends on business target & environment, level of technology and available budget & resource. Because e-commerce platform is kinds of tool not critical factor for e-commerce business.
I've operated Hybris 5.x & 6.x in 2014-19, and Hybris is evolving SAP Commerce Platform which has lots of functions and features. It is not easy learn these things, because actual implementation are working under different environments.
One more thing, Hybris was originally start up in Swiss, then SAP merged it 2013. SAP decided not to use Hybris anymore from 2018, so the name of Hybris may be disappeared within couple of years.
I think that Hybris in SAP is quite similar position to Magento in Adobe, so Adobe merged Magento in 2018 to integrate Adobe Experience Cloud.
SAP is famous enterprise software company, but I think that they are relatively slow and decentralized, and I am not sure Adobe is doing well competitively. I've adopted Adobe solutions into global e-commerce about tagging and analytics, but Adobe are another bureaucratic company on my point of view.
Anyway, I like to talk about important thing is a matter of how much actual competence have development and operation for e-commerce platform, not a matter of what kinds of e-commerce platform are applied.
Finally I recommend that it will be good to apply Hybris or Magento, because SAP or Adobe have many better engineers and programs to enhance its capabilities about e-commerce and cloud-based solutions as well.
