터보태스 TurboTax는 1984년 최초 버전이 출시된 이후로, 미국 성인이라면 매년 필수로 해야하는 소득세 신고 소프트웨어로 미국시장 점유율 1위로 독보적인 위치를 차지하고 있지요.
개인적으로 TurboTax를 사용해서 소득세 신고를 하려다가 포기했는데, 사회 초년생처럼 신고내용이 심플하면 문제가 없지만, 주식이나 주택거래 등을 했거나 대학생 자녀가 있다면 로컬 세무사를 이용하는 것이 맞다고 생각되네요.
TurboTax는 유료버전으로 넘어가게 교묘하게 유도하는게 많고, 소득세의 복잡한 옵션을 전부 커버하지 못하고, 대략 500개 정도 소득세 옵션이 적용되는 것으로 알고 있습니다.
TurboTax 커머셜은 Tax software으로, 골치아픈 것을 쉽게 만들어 준다고 어필하려는 듯 합니다.
